Maintaining a Well-Groomed Beard in Between Trips to the Barber Shop

Trends and fashions are known to change quite often. This fact is particularly true when it comes to men’s fashions. Beards are most certainly in and a hot item among many men. Here at the Barber Chair, we take great pride in helping our patrons in the Sarasota area continue to look their best, and in between visits to our location to make your beard look pristine, we’ve gathered a few tips on how to keep your beard looking its best.

Washing the Beard–The First Thing for a Great Beard

The first thing that we recommend is washing your beard two to three times a week. This heavily depends on your skin type and how often you engage in strenuous physical activity. If you tend to hit the gym often, a thorough beard washing afterward can make a noticeable difference in upkeep. Many different beard washes are available, and we recommend these as opposed to shampoo or soap. If your beard is thick, a special beard softener can enhance the feeling and appeal of your facial hair.

Keeping Your Beard Looking Like a Well-Oiled Machine

Next, we recommend using some beard oil once the washing process is complete and your beard is dry. Take a little bit into your hands, warm it up, and then gently massage it into your beard from root to tip. If these instructions seem similar to those you might find on a bottle of conditioner, it’s because beard oil operates in a very similar manner. Bear oil not only helps condition the beard but also the skin underneath.

Styling and Profiling

One of the great things about facial hair of any kind is that it gives you a chance to project your unique style. There are a few ways you can do this. Proper beard grooming and styling is best done with a beard comb and brush. If you plan on having a beard for several years, this is one of the best things you can purchase. If you’re a stickler for an even beard, a trimmer can be precise, though some enjoy the old-fashioned method of scissors and a comb.
